Schools of Excellence - Rewards

Various rewards will be allocated to the schools once they achieve the different criteria, some of which include the subscription to the SharkSmart Alcohol Pact as well as Guidelines on Concussion and Nutritional Supplements and the minimum medical requirements at sports matches, promotion of the Doping Hot Line, and completion of the Pupil Wellbeing Survey.

Such rewards include those which will benefit the schools themselves e.g. sports training equipment, medical equipment and those which benefit the drivers of the programme at each school i.e. the SharkSmart Champion. Crucial to the success of the programme will be the media coverage provided for the programme.

The following sponsored prizes include sports bracing from Medac while Discovery will sponsor attendance by a coach from each school at Jake White’s Winning Ways Coaching Course to be held in Durban.
Powerade will provide Powerade, corner flags, rugby balls, water carriers, water bottles and The Sharks will provide training equipment. Medical consumables and general medical support at the schools will be provided by ER 24 and Life Healthcare Group and MediClinic will supply sponsored medical consumables.

The Sharks Magazine/Juiced Media will provide copies of Sharks magazines for all schools and uShaka Marine World has come onboard with discounted access to uShaka. The Sharks Academy will provide access to their coaching staff and tickets to matches at The Absa Stadium Durban.

The programme will be driven internally at the schools by SharkSmart Champions and they will also be incentivized for their roles. Each Champion will receive Holiday Vouchers from Fun Holidays and Springbok Lodge, Discovery will give away Back packs and copies of John Smit's autobiography: “Captain the Cauldron”.
